In short
À la une signals prominence among the main stories; en une points to front-page placement. Un hors-série is a special issue outside the regular sequence, while un supplément accompanies another publication. These terms describe position or format, not factual reliability.

A site can put an article à la une even when there is no printed front page. A printed newspaper can advertise an interview en une while placing the full text inside. Read the surrounding line to find out whether you are seeing the complete article, a headline or a pointer to another page.

Issue or accompanying publication?
A gardening hors-série may be sold separately from the magazine’s normal sequence. A supplement may be bundled with the Saturday newspaper. Numéro spécial emphasises a theme; the phrase alone does not tell you whether it replaces a regular issue or is additional. Check the publisher’s sales or issue notice when that distinction matters.
