A1 French story: the guide takes off the red hat

Read an A1 identification story with eight glosses. A guide removes her red hat, so use the remaining glasses, scarf and name badge to recognise her.

In short

Mina is still the guide after she takes off the red hat. In the story, Paul recognises her round glasses and white scarf, then reads Mina on her badge. The hat moves from her head to her bag; the other identifying details remain available.

A single accessory is a useful first clue, but it may be removed. Follow the descriptions before and after the change. The story explicitly names the remaining features, so you do not need to guess an age or a personality trait to identify the guide.

The group waits outside the museum. The guide is called Mina. At first she wears a red hat, a white scarf and round glasses. She also has a navy jacket and a badge with her first name. Mina says, “We are going into the garden. Follow me.” Paul mostly watches the red hat to find her.

In the garden it is warm. Mina takes off her hat and puts it in her bag. Paul stops near a tree to take a photo. When he looks up, he no longer sees a red hat. “Where is our guide?” he asks his friend Sara. She points out a person near the pond.

Paul looks at Mina’s face: she is still wearing her round glasses. Her white scarf is also visible against her jacket. “Yes, I can see her now,” he says. Mina waits for the group beside the pond. Paul comes closer and reads the badge: “Mina.” It is indeed the guide.

Sara smiles: “The hat is in her bag, but the other details are the same.” Paul recognises Mina thanks to the glasses, scarf and badge. He puts away his phone and rejoins the group. Mina starts presenting the garden’s plants. Paul listens: now he knows who is speaking, even without the red hat.
