DELF A2 reading: organise a day from four short messages

Read four French messages to build one day’s sequence, including an updated meeting place. Follow the current location and separate each action’s time.

In short

Keep each action’s time, then apply the explicit location update. Collect badges at 9 h 30, meet at 10 h outside the community centre, start the workshop at 11 h and tidy at 12 h. The earlier town-hall meeting place is replaced; the meeting time stays 10 h.

A curved stone path leads through a garden toward an arched entrance, with blank paper and a toolbox in the foreground.
A garden path approaches an arched doorway beside an open work area with a toolbox. Teaching diagram: Atelier

The four messages are sent on the same morning. Read their sending times separately from the times of the planned actions. The third message changes one detail in the second: where the 10 h meeting happens. The other stated actions remain in the sequence.

Exercice original A2

Sending times identify the message sequence; the text supplies each action’s planned time.

The plan after the location update

  1. 9 h 30
Récupérer les badges à l’accueil de la bibliothèque.Collect the badges at library reception.
  2. 10 h
Retrouver Sam devant la maison de quartier.Meet Sam outside the community centre.
  3. 11 h
Commencer l’atelier à la maison de quartier.Start the workshop at the community centre.
  4. 12 h
Ranger la salle après l’atelier.Tidy the room after the workshop.

Change the location, not the whole plan

Et non devant la mairie explicitly replaces the town hall as the meeting place. L’horaire ne change pas preserves 10 h. The library collection remains at 9 h 30 because the update does not replace that separate instruction. The workshop and tidying times come from the fourth message.

Envoyé à is not automatically an appointment time

Message 3 is sent at 8 h 45, but it schedules a meeting at 10 h. The header tells you when the update was written. The sentence tells you when to meet. Keeping those functions separate avoids turning the newest timestamp into the next appointment.

Collecting badges at 9 h 30. The badge collection has the earliest planned action time.

Question 3No account needed
What does the 8 h 45 time in message 3 identify?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

When the update was sent. Envoyé à 8 h 45 labels the sending time, while the message repeats the 10 h appointment.

Question 4No account needed
Which detail stays unchanged in the update?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

The 10 h meeting time. L’horaire ne change pas explicitly preserves the meeting time.

For your own notes, write one row per action with its time and current place. If a later message changes a detail, replace that detail in the row and keep the rest unless the message says otherwise.
