In short
To shave is se raser. You'll need le rasoir (razor), la mousse or le gel à raser, la lame (blade) and l'après-rasage (aftershave). For a beard: la tondeuse (trimmer), l'huile à barbe (beard oil) and le peigne.

Le barbier is a barber who specialises in beards, while le coiffeur cuts hair. Se raser de près is a close shave, and le feu du rasoir is razor burn. A blaireau is also a badger, whose hair was once used for shaving brushes.
