In short

Develop a personal account by adding what made the problem difficult, what someone actually did and what changed in your understanding. A useful reflection leads to a specific next step: La prochaine fois, je préparerai des mots-clés pour les transitions.

Start with Clara’s short account

Pendant la répétition, j’ai oublié ma première phrase. Une camarade m’a aidée et nous avons continué. À la fin, j’étais soulagée.

During the rehearsal, I forgot my first line. A classmate helped me and we carried on. At the end, I was relieved.

Clara is the narrator, so aidée and soulagée are feminine.

Three questions that make the account fuller

Build the account in three parts

Samedi dernier, nous répétions une présentation à deux pour notre club. J’étais nerveuse parce que je voulais réciter mon texte mot pour mot. Nous avions préparé des cartes avec quelques mots-clés, mais je regardais surtout mes phrases complètes.

Last Saturday, we were rehearsing a presentation as a pair for our club. I was nervous because I wanted to recite my text exactly. We had prepared cards with a few keywords, but I mostly looked at my complete sentences.

Background: the task, the worry and the cards. Répétions and voulais describe the situation; avions préparé places the cards earlier.

Au moment de prendre la parole, j’ai oublié ma première phrase. Je me suis arrêtée. Ma camarade a montré le mot « exemple » sur ma carte. Ce mot m’a rappelé la situation que je voulais raconter. J’ai repris avec mes propres mots et nous avons terminé la présentation.

When it was time for me to speak, I forgot my first line. I stopped. My classmate pointed to the word “example” on my card. That word reminded me of the situation I wanted to describe. I resumed in my own words and we finished the presentation.

Action: the cue is one word, and Clara produces the rest. The help is now visible.

J’étais soulagée, mais surtout, j’ai compris que je pouvais expliquer une idée même en oubliant une phrase. Les mots-clés m’ont aidée à retrouver le fil. La prochaine fois, je répéterai les transitions avec mes cartes, au lieu d’apprendre chaque phrase par cœur.

I was relieved, but above all I realised that I could explain an idea even when I forgot a sentence. The keywords helped me pick up the thread. Next time, I will rehearse the transitions with my cards instead of learning every sentence by heart.

Reflection: Clara names what worked, then chooses a different way to prepare.

Read the three parts together as a complete account. The first introduces the cards; the second shows their use; the third explains their value. Every added detail prepares or explains another part of the story.
