In short

Find:

| Start with | Add a location | Add a detail |
|---|---|---|
| un sac | Le sac est sous la table. | Le sac est rouge. |
| une lampe | La lampe est sur la table. | La lampe est verte. |
| un carnet | Le carnet est sur la table. | Le carnet a une couverture bleue. |
In these colour phrases, the adjective follows the noun it describes. Vert becomes verte with la lampe. Bleue agrees with la couverture, while bleu agrees with le carnet. Read un carnet bleu and une couverture bleue aloud to keep the two noun phrases together.
Une femme en pull jaune lit près de la fenêtre.
A woman in a yellow jumper is reading near the window.
This adds a visible action and an item of clothing to the room description.
Try three sentences before revealing the spot labels: one with il y a, one with sur or sous, and one with a colour. You can reuse a noun. For an extra challenge, describe the chair’s high back or the table’s round shape. Point to the detail as you say it.
