A2 French story: a free exhibition and a separately booked workshop

Read an A2 French cultural-outing story where free exhibition entry and a paid workshop have separate conditions. Follow the booking, tickets and arrival times.

In short

The free exhibition does not include the workshop. Karim books two separate workshop places at 8 € each and receives two workshop tickets. On Saturday, they visit the exhibition first, then show those tickets before the 15 h activity.

Maya first sees the exhibition and the workshop in the same programme. The story explains which part is free, which part needs a reservation and how the siblings fit both into one afternoon. Look for the nouns that the tickets actually refer to.

Read it in English

Karim invites his sister Maya to a print exhibition on Saturday afternoon. Admission is free and the exhibition is open from one to six. Maya looks at the programme on her phone. A photo also shows a workshop where visitors make a small picture. “Are we going to do that too?” she asks.

Karim reads the details. The workshop starts at three, lasts an hour and costs eight euros per person. A place must be booked separately. The free exhibition visit does not give access to the workshop. Karim has not made any booking yet.

He opens the booking page on Friday morning. There are two places left for Saturday at three. Maya confirms she wants to take part. Karim books both places and receives an email with two workshop tickets. He sends them to Maya too.

On Saturday, the two arrive at half past one. They enter the exhibition freely and look at the prints. At ten to three, they go to the workshop reception desk and show their tickets. The person at reception checks both bookings.

Maya now understands the difference: the exhibition is free and open without a ticket, but the guided activity needs its own place. After the workshop, she leaves with her small picture. Karim keeps the programme to choose another outing the following month.

Question 1No account needed

Answer and explanation

The exhibition visit only. The text explicitly separates the free exhibition from the paid workshop.

Question 2No account needed
How much do the two workshop places cost together?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

16 €. The workshop costs 8 € per person, so two places cost 16 €.

Question 3No account needed
When do Karim and Maya show the workshop tickets?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

At 14:50 before the 15:00 workshop. The reception scene is at quatorze heures cinquante, ten minutes before the workshop.

Attach the ticket to the activity

Deux billets pour l’atelier identifies exactly what Karim receives. L’exposition est gratuite does not describe the workshop’s price. When two events appear together, the phrase after pour or the activity heading helps you keep their conditions separate.

The booking happens Friday; the visit happens Saturday. Within Saturday, the exhibition comes first and the workshop follows. These two time sequences explain both preparation and the order of the afternoon.
