Retenu means chosen here, not physically held back. Le périmètre couvert names what is counted. Par rapport à l’an dernier gives a time reference, but the event may have changed size. A lower total and a lower amount per participant are different claims; request attendance if you need the latter.
When the organiser provides the material, match your final wording to it. Le poids des déchets sur site a baissé sur le périmètre suivi is narrower than “the whole event is greener”. If the metric remains unavailable, attribute the claim: l’organisateur présente l’édition comme…. That preserves who makes the assertion while you wait for its basis.
