In short
Name the fault at the level where it occurs. A verb–noun pairing concerns collocation; an unclear elle concerns reference; ces mesures est concerns agreement. A conclusion beyond the evidence concerns logic, while assigning a claim to the wrong source concerns attribution.
Yellow the idea to rememberBlue French to learn

A sentence can sound fluent while misrepresenting a dossier. The following contexts make each target explicit so that the diagnosis does not rest on guessing a writer’s intention. Keep correct French formulations when a more formal alternative is merely a preference.

A repair should preserve what is supported
For an ambiguous pronoun, replacing it with the intended noun can be enough. For a logic gap, polishing the grammar will not suffice. For attribution, retain the speaker and degree of commitment: an estimate, a hypothesis and a result are different claims.
| Diagnosis | Possible repair |
|---|---|
| Reference | La commission refuse le projet. |
| Agreement | Les résultats confirment l’hypothèse. |
| Attribution and certainty | A estime qu’une économie serait possible. |
| Logic | Un refus est exprimé ; le nombre de participants favorables à l’essai reste inconnu. |
Do not call every ordinary collocation a mistake because a more formal expression exists. Faire une enquête and faire une critique can be valid French. The lexical target here is the unsuitable faire une question, whose intended meaning is supplied explicitly.
