Gap-fill

DELF B1 writing gap-fill: a promise, a condition and a reminder

Complete a French follow-up that separates a confirmed promise, a condition not yet met and a reminder, with ten precisely cued gaps.

In short

Separate what is confirmed from what still depends on an action. Je vous enverrai le document demain commits you to sending it; le prêt sera confirmé si… leaves the loan conditional. A reminder should repeat the unmet condition without pretending it has already been fulfilled.

In this original exchange, Léa has promised to send a completed form tomorrow. The association has offered a projector loan only if it receives that form before Friday at noon. The form has not yet been sent. Complete the follow-up while preserving those three facts.

A promise is made; the condition remains open

(use the closing word Cordialement), Léa.

Read it in English

Hello Madam, I confirm that I will send you the form tomorrow. As agreed, it will be completed and signed.

I understand that the projector loan will be confirmed if you receive the document before Friday noon. For now, I have not sent it yet; I therefore do not regard the loan as definitively reserved.

You asked me to specify the name of the person who will collect the device. It will be my colleague Nora. I will send you her contact details in the same message as the form.

Could you remind me of the collection time once the loan is confirmed? Thank you for your help. Kind regards, Léa.

What the message confirms

Je vous confirme que je vous enverrai… confirms Léa’s own commitment to send the form. It does not confirm the association’s loan. The next paragraph states the separate condition and acknowledges that it remains unmet. Naming the object of each confirmation prevents the repeated verb confirmer from hiding a difference in status.

Keep si with the appropriate tense

The loan will be confirmed if you receive the form on time.

This future condition uses si followed by the present recevez, with sera in the main clause. Do not put recevrez after si in this construction. The final request asks for collection details after confirmation; it does not assert that confirmation has already arrived.

Question 1No account needed
What is already committed in the scenario?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

Léa will send the form tomorrow.. The promise concerns sending the form.

Question 2No account needed
What condition still matters?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

Receipt of the form before Friday noon.. The association’s loan offer depends on timely receipt.

In your own follow-up, name the action, its deadline and the current status separately. If the deadline cannot be met, ask about an alternative instead of wording the conditional arrangement as a completed reservation.
