DELF B1 writing: hopes for your first year living independently

Write a coherent B1 French text about your first year living independently, linking hopes and worries to reasons and practical choices.

In short

Give one clear hope, explain why it matters, then acknowledge a concern before proposing a practical response. Use j’espère que with the indicative in an affirmative statement, and je souhaite que with the subjunctive. A convincing B1 text connects these forms to your own reasons.

A student website asks what you expect from your first year away from your family home. The reader needs to understand your priorities, rather than count a string of wish expressions. Choose two connected aspects, such as managing your routine and staying in touch, and develop them with examples.

Pour ma première année loin de ma famille, j’espère surtout apprendre à organiser mes journées. Jusqu’ici, mes parents me rappelaient souvent les choses importantes.

Those connections do more work than adding another isolated wish. The final sentence defines independence as a combination of autonomy and knowing when to ask for help.
