DELF B1 writing: justify keeping a shared room quiet for part of the day

Write a balanced B1 proposal for limited quiet hours in a shared room, with two needs, a practical compromise and a complete French model.

In short

Define a limited quiet period and explain who it would help. Then acknowledge the room’s social role and offer another place or time for conversation. A workable proposal names the hours, the alternative and a way to adjust the arrangement after trying it.

This original B1 preparation task asks for a proposal to fellow residents. A forum post can begin Bonjour à tous and end with a request for suggestions. The model takes a position, but presents a trial arrangement rather than treating a shared space as belonging to only one group.

A limited proposal is easier to assess

De 14 heures à 16 heures, les mardis et jeudis tells residents exactly when the change would apply. Le reste du temps preserves the other use. The proposed lounge is explicitly outside the quiet shared room, and its use is conditional: si un tel espace est disponible. If a separate space is unavailable or insufficient, the model calls for revising the schedule.

We could run a trial, then change the hours according to feedback.

Use the conditional for proposals such as nous pourrions and cette règle serait limitée. Use il faudrait for a possible adjustment. The purpose is to explain what you recommend and why, rather than to insert advanced forms unrelated to the decision.

Question 1No account needed
Which detail makes the proposal limited?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

Two specified weekly time slots.. The model reserves two defined periods and leaves other times available.

Question 2No account needed
What need does the concession recognise?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

Social contact and shared activities.. The model explicitly acknowledges isolation and meetings.

Question 3No account needed
What happens if the alternative space is insufficient?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

The group should reconsider the hours.. The proposed trial includes feedback and revision.

For a different answer, choose a different schedule or alternative that still serves both needs. Keep the practical links visible: a promised conversation space must actually be available, and an experimental rule needs a clear moment when residents can discuss its effects.
