In short
Flexibilité foregrounds adaptability; précarité foregrounds insecurity or unstable protection. The same arrangement may involve both, but the words are not complete synonyms. Ask who controls the adjustment and who bears the uncertainty.

The scenarios distinguish chosen variable hours with guaranteed pay, uncertain daily assignments, management-controlled schedule changes and a short chosen project with guaranteed remuneration. None can be evaluated from duration alone. A precise reading recovers the actual conditions before identifying the stance.
| Cas | Conditions |
|---|---|
| A | La personne choisit ses horaires variables ; sa rémunération est garantie. |
| B | Chaque soir, l’activité et la rémunération du lendemain restent inconnues. |
| C | La direction change les horaires ; le choix des salariés n’est pas précisé. |
| D | Le projet est court et librement choisi ; la rémunération élevée est garantie. |
A label should not erase the condition
If a source praises A’s flexibility, retain the worker’s control and pay guarantee. If another criticises B’s precarity, retain the income uncertainty. A summary that simply replaces one noun with the other loses the mechanism each source discusses. Comparing frames works best when the underlying conditions remain visible.
You can also state a disagreement about criteria: one speaker values rapid staffing changes, another prioritises predictable income. That is a substantive question, rather than merely a stylistic preference for a positive or negative noun.
