Thomas accompanies his friend Samir Diallo. Both are already at reception, but only Samir has the appointment. The dialogue names the patient and lets him answer the appointment-time question himself. Thomas asks about his own waiting place without assuming what access comes next.

Separate the person accompanying from the appointment holder
Je suis ici avec mon ami describes Thomas’s reason for being there. C’est son rendez-vous identifies Samir as the appointment holder. Pas le mien means not mine, referring back to the masculine noun rendez-vous. The noun’s gender determines mien; it does not tell you the gender of the person holding the appointment.
| Person | Role | Appointment information |
|---|---|---|
| Thomas | L’ami qui accompagne | No appointment of his own in this scene |
| Samir Diallo | La personne qui a rendez-vous | 10:00 |
Je l’accompagne, mais je n’ai pas de rendez-vous.
I am accompanying him, but I do not have an appointment.
Déjà là and à côté de moi establish who is present
The receptionist asks whether Mr Diallo is already there. Thomas answers that Samir is beside him, and Samir introduces himself. This sequence removes the possibility that Thomas has arrived alone to arrange something for an absent friend. Names and simple location phrases make the referents explicit.
Pour l’instant means for now. It limits the waiting instruction to the current situation and does not establish what will happen during the consultation. Asking the question lets the receptionist give the relevant direction rather than relying on an assumed general rule.
