Verb drill

French d’entre drill: one of us, several of them, none of you

Build group-membership sentences with d’entre nous, vous, eux and elles. Practise singular and plural subjects, negative aucun and feminine agreement.

In short

Use d’entre plus a stressed pronoun to pick members from a group: l’un d’entre nous, plusieurs d’entre eux, aucun d’entre vous. In this drill, the head expression controls third-person agreement: singular l’un est or aucun n’est, plural plusieurs sont.

The pronoun after d’entre names the larger group. Use nous for us, vous for you, eux for a male or mixed group, and elles for a female group. It is eux, rather than ils, after the preposition. For the negative subjects here, keep ne before the verb and leave out pas.

L’une d’entre nous est prête.

One of us is ready.

The speaker’s group consists of women; l’une and prête are feminine singular.

Use the third-person patterns shown in the table throughout these exercises. In the first part, write only the missing group expression. In the second, write the whole sentence with the starter requested. All readiness cues refer to the present, and the group’s gender is specified where it affects an ending.
