In short
Le déjeuner is lunch; la pause déjeuner is the lunch break. To say you stop briefly, use faire une pause. To return to the activity, use reprendre le travail. Finir le travail marks the end of work, rather than the end of a short break.

A workday has more than one stopping point. You may pause for coffee, eat lunch, resume work and finish later. These twenty-four cards keep the meal, the break and the action separate. The final group helps you say whether something happens before, during or after the pause. The meal names in this deck follow everyday usage in France.

The meal and the time away from work
Déjeuner names the meal or the action of eating lunch. Pause déjeuner names the interval. You can eat during that interval and still have time left to walk or read. A pause-café is a coffee break; it need not mean that every person drinks coffee. The phrase identifies the kind of short pause in the workday.
Je déjeune à midi et je reprends le travail à treize heures.
I have lunch at noon and resume work at one in the afternoon.
Reprendre is different from finishing
Je reprends le travail means that work continues after a pause. Je finis le travail means that the work or working period ends. In a rota, the lunch interval sits between the start and finish. If you say Je finis à midi when you mean only that lunch begins at noon, the listener may think you finish work for the day.
To describe your own break, give one start time, one action and one return time. For example: Je fais une pause à dix heures. Je prends un café. Je reprends le travail à dix heures dix. Each sentence adds a useful detail about the same short interval.
