In short
Use se souvenir de quelque chose and se remémorer quelque chose. The second takes a direct object: Elle se remémore cette scène. Keep the reflexive pronoun in both. When the meaning is remembering, do not transfer the first verb’s de automatically to the second.

Each item contains one selectable target, which may be a word or a short group. In the two se remémorer examples, the group de cette or de ce is replaced by the determiner alone. The English line fixes who remembers and what is remembered.

I remember this visit.
Se souvenir de introduces what is remembered.
She recalls this scene.
Se remémorer takes a direct object; remove the unnecessary de from this selectable group.
We remember this journey.
The intended remembering construction is se souvenir de ce trajet.
You recall this trip.
Se remémorer ce voyage uses the direct object, without de.
I remembered the person’s first name.
Je takes the imparfait form souvenais; souvenait belongs to il/elle/on.
She recalls the conversation.
The singular subject elle takes remémore in the present.
The same scene, two constructions
Je me souviens de cette scène. Je me remémore cette scène.
I remember this scene. I bring this scene back to mind.
Se remémorer can foreground bringing a past scene back to mind. Se souvenir names remembering it. The lexical shade does not remove the grammatical contrast: de before the remembered object with se souvenir, direct object with se remémorer.
The object construction affects replacement
Je me souviens de ce voyage. Je m’en souviens.
I remember this trip. I remember it.
Je me remémore cette scène. Je me la remémore.
I recall this scene. I recall it.
En replaces the de-complement in the first pair. La replaces the feminine direct object cette scène in the second. The reflexive me remains part of the verb in both. These complete examples help you learn the complement relation rather than memorising isolated prepositions.
When writing a memory paragraph, choose the verb, then build its full construction with the remembered object. That order prevents a familiar meaning from hiding a different grammatical pattern.
