Verb drill

Vendre and attendre: a regular French -re present-tense drill

Build vends, vend and vendons, then practise vendre, attendre and répondre in twelve answers with a reference table and shopping picture cards.

In short

For regular vendre-type verbs, remove -re and add -s, -s, no ending, -ons, -ez, -ent. That gives je vends, elle vend, nous vendons. Attendre follows the same pattern; prendre needs its own changing stems.

Study first: keep the d in the stem

ils / ellesvendentattendent

With il, elle or on, leave the stem as it is: vend, attend. The final d is written even when you cannot hear it. In the plural, you hear the d: vendons, vendez, vendent. The letters -ent in the last form stay silent.

Four things to sell

attendre quelqu’unto wait for someone

Focus: a direct object

Nous attendons Léa devant la gare.
We are waiting for Léa outside the station.

répondre à quelqu’unto reply to someone

Focus: the preposition à

Je réponds à Léa.
I’m replying to Léa.

Répondre has the same endings: je réponds, elle répond, nous répondons. Keep the accent on é. Sharing a conjugation pattern leaves each verb’s construction intact: attendre le bus, but répondre à une question. English “for” in “wait for” adds no pour to the French phrase.

Twelve answers: a form or one missing verb

Type the missing form. The first round mixes singular and plural subjects. In the second, keep the verb named in the hint. In the last row, dois is already conjugated, so the action that follows stays in the infinitive.
