In short

Agree three things before you begin: what you will do, how much time each person has and when each person wants corrections. Try On compare deux idées de sortie ? and Tu préfères les corrections pendant ton tour ou après ?

How do you plan a French speaking-partner session?

A 30-minute plan to discuss
MinutesActivityFrench cue
0–5Choose an outing task and check preferences.Qu’est-ce que tu aimerais travailler ?
5–15Compare two outings and choose one.Quel horaire te convient ?
15–20Exchange comments.Qu’est-ce qui était difficile à comprendre ?
20–27Repeat with the roles exchanged.Cette fois, c’est toi qui proposes.
27–30Choose one phrase to keep.Quelle expression veux-tu réutiliser ?

Use this plan as a starting point. If your partner has twenty minutes, shorten it together. The useful part is the shared decision: each person knows the task, gets a turn to lead and can state a preference about feedback.

Avant la séance
  1. Léa

J’ai trente minutes aujourd’hui. On compare deux idées de sortie et on en choisit une ?

I have thirty minutes today. Shall we compare two outing ideas and choose one?

  2. Adam

Oui. Je voudrais surtout travailler les questions sur les horaires.

Yes. I’d particularly like to work on questions about times.

  3. Léa

D’accord. Tu préfères les corrections pendant ton tour ou après ?

All right. Do you prefer corrections during your turn or afterwards?

  4. Adam

Après, s’il te plaît. Note deux ou trois passages à reprendre. Et toi ?

Afterwards, please. Note two or three parts to go over. What about you?

  5. Léa

Tu peux m’interrompre si tu ne comprends pas. Pour la grammaire, attends la fin.

You can interrupt me if you don’t understand. For grammar, wait until the end.

  6. Adam

Ça marche. Au deuxième essai, on échange les rôles.

That works. On the second attempt, we’ll swap roles.

How do you give useful feedback in French?

Je n’ai pas compris l’heure proposée.I didn’t understand the proposed time.

Focus: A detail your partner can clarify

Tu peux redire l’heure plus lentement ?
Can you say the time again more slowly?

Cette phrase est à vérifier. This sentence needs checking.

Focus: A grammar point to look up together

Je vais vérifier cette préposition dans la leçon.
I’ll check this preposition in the lesson.
