One film, several different judgements
Mon avis reste donc mitigé4.
Read it in English
I saw “An Open Window” on Friday. The images are carefully crafted and the soundtrack creates a calm atmosphere. I particularly liked the scenes where the characters speak little: their gestures tell us a lot.
Yet the plot moves slowly. In the middle of the film, several scenes repeat the same idea and I sometimes lost the thread. The ending, by contrast, arrives too quickly: one conversation resolves in a few minutes the conflict built up throughout the story.
My opinion therefore remains mixed. I would recommend this film to someone who likes observing visual details. On the other hand, someone mainly looking for a story full of twists may be left wanting more. For me, the images are worth seeing, even though I find the story’s pacing less convincing.
