A1 French reading feedback: choose the next exercise that helps
Match three beginner reading mistakes to a focused retry: first names, message writers and availability. Try fresh examples and choose your next step.
In short
Choose a new exercise that repeats the relationship you missed. A wrong first name calls for another labelled form; a wrong writer calls for another message; a wrong time calls for a contrast between ending and starting.

1 · You copied the surname: follow the label
Prénom : Adam. Nom : Morel.
First name: Adam. Surname: Morel.
The question asks for the first name, but your answer is Morel. Feedback points to Prénom, the label beside Adam. For the next exercise, change the names and put the surname first on the page. Your job is to follow the label wherever it appears.
2 · You chose the addressee: find the signature
Salut Nora ! Je suis libre demain. Tu veux qu’on se voie ? Adam.
Hi Nora! I’m free tomorrow. Would you like to meet? Adam.
Nora is greeted; Adam signs. Here je refers to Adam and tu addresses Nora. If your answer to “Who writes?” was Nora, try a new message with the names reversed. Look at both ends of the message before deciding who is speaking.
3 · You chose the end of work: find the start of free time
Je travaille jusqu’à quinze heures et je suis libre à partir de seize heures.
I work until three and am free from four.
| Question | Answer | Why |
|---|---|---|
| À quelle heure finit le travail ? | À quinze heures. | Jusqu’à gives the end limit. |
| À partir de quelle heure est-il libre ? | À partir de seize heures. | À partir de gives the start. |
The hour between the two times stays in the message. A useful retry changes both numbers and asks both questions. That makes you read the role of each time, rather than carry the first number you recognise into every answer.
