C1 French reading: making cancelled laundry slots visible

Read a French laundry-room exchange and trace three steps: observed non-use, a cancellation proposal and how neighbours would hear about a free slot.

In short

The unused machine is an observation; releasing a booking is a proposal; telling neighbours about it is a further practical step. Track the scope of deux samedis de suite and pas forcément as you connect the three contributions.

Three contributions to compare

Une réservation libérée, pour qui ?

A — Carnet d’usage

Read it in English

On two consecutive Saturdays, a booked machine was not used during the observed slot. The log gives neither the reason for the absence nor use at other times. It therefore cannot describe all bookings.

A slot could be released when the person knows they will not come. A message in the log would be enough to indicate cancellation. I am not proposing to abolish booking: it helps people plan laundry, particularly when they have little time.

The idea deserves discussion, but the log can only be consulted on site. A cancellation announced in the morning will not necessarily be known to someone waiting at home. Before setting a rule, let us specify how information on released slots will be accessible.
