Déclarer conjugation: déclare, déclaré and déclarerai

Conjugate déclarer in seven tenses and moods, report a statement with que and distinguish a declaration from proof that its content is true.

In short

Déclarer is regular: je déclare, nous déclarons, j’ai déclaré. Use déclarer que + proposition to report a statement: Elle déclare que la salle est prête. A person’s declaration tells you what they assert; the reporting verb alone does not establish the statement as a verified fact.

Déclarer appears in reports of public statements and in administrative contexts. In déclarer un objet perdu, the direct object is what you report. In déclarer que la réunion est maintenue, que introduces the content of the statement. Neither construction needs an extra de before its object or clause.

ConstructionExampleFunction
déclarer que + propositionLe porte-parole déclare que le projet continue.Report the asserted content.
déclarer + nomElle déclare la perte de son badge.Name what is being reported.
déclarer + infinitifIl déclare vouloir rester.Report the subject’s stated intention.

The noun perte is feminine: la perte. The preposition in perte de son badge belongs to the noun phrase, not directly to déclarer. The infinitive example keeps the same subject: il declares that he himself wants to stay. With a different subject, use a clause that makes that subject explicit.

A declaration has a speaker

La responsable déclare que le projet continue attributes the assertion to her. If you then write Le projet continue, you present that information in your own voice. In a source-aware summary, keep the reporting frame when the evidence available is simply the statement itself. Select a reporting verb that matches the actual act rather than adding certainty.

  • Nous déclarrons la perte.Nous déclarons la perte.

There is one r in the present stem déclar-.

The past participle déclaré follows avoir.

Que directly introduces the reported clause.

She makes that assertion.. The reporting clause attributes the statement to its speaker.

Practise one declaration with je in the present, passé composé and conditional. Then report a short statement using déclarer que and retain the name or role of its speaker. This develops both the verb form and the attribution readers need.
