DELF B1 reading: distinguish a waiting list from a confirmed place

Read three French registration messages to distinguish waiting-list status, a conditional offer and a confirmed place, including how acceptance changes the next action.

In short

Read the latest message and its condition. Liste d’attente is not a confirmed place; une place s’est libérée may still require acceptance. Votre participation est confirmée confirms participation here. Once acceptance has been acknowledged, the original acceptance deadline does not call for a second reply.

These original messages concern a repair workshop on 18 March. Follow the registration reference as well as the dates so that you know the messages concern the same application. The second message changes the status, but it is the third message that acknowledges the required acceptance.

Track what each message changes

The first email records the request without granting a place. The second makes an offer with a deadline. The third confirms that the participant fulfilled that condition. Treating demande enregistrée as confirmed participation would erase the distinction that the later messages make explicit.

One application, three statuses

  1. 10 mars
Demande enregistrée ; liste d’attente.Application recorded; waiting list.
  2. 12 mars
Place proposée sous condition de réponse.Place offered subject to a reply.
  3. 13 mars
Acceptation reçue ; participation confirmée.Acceptance received; participation confirmed.
  4. 18 mars · 14 h
Accueil à l’entrée de la salle B.Arrival at the entrance to room B.

A real organiser may use different wording or conditions. Base your next action on what the messages actually request. If an acceptance was sent but never acknowledged, asking for confirmation would be sensible; in this exercise, the latest email already supplies that acknowledgement.
