In short
Éprouver follows the regular -er pattern: j’éprouve, nous éprouvons, j’ai éprouvé. It can mean experiencing a feeling, as in éprouver de la gratitude, or testing something, as in éprouver la solidité d’un matériau. The object and context identify the meaning.

The accent at the start of éprouver remains in every form. In the present, the stem is éprouv- and the endings are those of a regular -er verb. The verb starts with a vowel, so je becomes j’. Its compound tenses use avoir; the past participle ends in -é.
