Reflexive French commands: lève-toi, levons-nous, levez-vous

In short
Put the pronoun after a positive command with a hyphen: lève-toi. In the negative, move it before the verb: ne te lève pas. Toi becomes te; nous and vous keep their spelling.

Lève-toi addresses one person on tu terms. Levons-nous means “let’s get up”, including the speaker. Levez-vous can address a group or one person you call vous. The accent is in lève, but there is none in levons or levez.

How do you form reflexive commands in French?
- Prépares-toi.Prépare-toi.
The ordinary tu imperative of an -er verb drops the final -s. The hyphen joins verb and pronoun.
- Ne te habille pas.Ne t’habille pas.
Te elides before the silent h of habiller. The positive command stays habille-toi.
For sitting down, both assieds-toi and assois-toi are accepted. Their negatives are ne t’assieds pas and ne t’assois pas. These irregular forms follow the same pronoun movement as the regular verbs.
Write the complete verb group
Each cue specifies the person and whether the command is positive or negative. Supply the whole command group in the gap; the rest of the sentence is already there. Keep accents and hyphens. In the last pair, either accepted form of s’asseoir works.
