Telling your child's teacher they're ill, in French

Your child has a temperature and won't be at school. Message the French teacher on the school app: who, why, how long, and catching up on homework.

In short

French school messages are polite and brief, always with vous: Madame, Tom est malade (fièvre) et ne viendra pas à l'école aujourd'hui. Add how long you expect, ask about homework and sign with your name. Primary schools use le cahier de liaison or an app; secondary schools use Pronote or similar.
