In short
Label what comes from a source, what you infer and what you add. A personal example may support your argument, but it must not appear as a result established by the dossier. Your notes should preserve the source label and the scope of each claim before prose makes the boundaries harder to see.

Original small dossier
S1: trial report

An inference can be well supported or unsupported. Its category does not grant it truth. The statement about universal proof is an inference because the reader adds it; it is also a poor one, since the report explicitly limits its scope. Mark the origin first, then assess whether the evidence warrants the step.
| Note field | What to retain | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | S1, S2, comparison or personal contribution | Prevents a false attribution. |
| Claim | The narrow proposition in your own words | Avoids copying a whole sentence without processing it. |
| Scope | Two sites, six weeks, local observations | Prevents silent generalisation. |
| Possible use | Evidence, objection, comparison or example | Connects the note to the requested genre. |
A source-only synthesis and a personally argued speech do not permit exactly the same use of experience. Read the task before using the last category. These are planning categories for this practice page, not an official examination grid. Their purpose is to make your eventual claims traceable and your own contribution explicit.
