In short
An inference connects clues in the passage to a conclusion. A guess adds a missing link, such as a cause, motive or exact number. Choose a conclusion whose strength matches the evidence: peut-être supports a possibility, while a confirmed decision supports a firmer answer.

| Passage | Supported conclusion | Still open |
|---|---|---|
| Seules les personnes inscrites reçoivent le lien. Amel a reçu le lien. | Amel is registered. | When she registered |
| Lina n’a pas pu participer, car elle a appris la nouvelle trop tard. | Lina learnt about it too late to take part. | Why the news reached her late |
The first conclusion combines two sentences. In the second, the reason for missing the activity is supplied, but the reason for the late news remains open. Read each new passage independently. Some questions ask for a certain conclusion; others ask for the interpretation best supported by the wording.
