Imparfait stems drill: start from nous, then change the subject
Build imparfait stems from parlons, finissons, prenons, buvons and other present nous forms. Two rounds practise eight stems and eight complete verbs.

In short
Take a checked present nous form and remove -ons: nous prenons gives pren-. Then add the imparfait ending for your new subject: tu prenais, vous preniez. Keep être separate: its stem is ét-.

Look at finissons and buvons. Guessing from the infinitive would hide the material you need: finiss- and buv-. The present nous form supplies it directly. With être, learn ét- as its own starting point and keep the accent in every form.
Nous prenons le temps de répondre. → Avant, nous prenions le temps de répondre.
We take the time to reply. → Previously, we used to take the time to reply.
Remove -ons from prenons, then add -ions to the same pren- stem.
Nous faisons le point. → À cette époque, elle faisait le point.
We take stock. → At that time, she used to take stock.
The present nous form supplies the stem even when the past sentence has elle as its subject.

In round one, type the stem with its hyphen, such as pren-. In round two, type the complete imparfait verb. The subject will change: deriving a stem from nous is a formation step, not an instruction to keep nous in every sentence.

How do you form the imparfait stem?
If finiss- was missing its second s, revisit nous finissons. If the stem was right but elles received -ait, revisit the ending. If the difficulty was mangeais versus mangions, use the related spelling sheet: that page checks the letters where stem and ending meet.
