Find:
| Before → after | French model | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| An old lamp → a new lamp in its place | Je remplace la vieille lampe par une lampe neuve. | Replacement; old item first. |
| My blue chair, your red chair → we swap | J’échange ma chaise bleue contre ta chaise rouge. | An exchange with a counterpart. |
| A small poster → the same poster, larger | J’agrandis l’affiche. | Size. |
| Unclear instructions → clearer instructions | J’améliore les consignes. | Quality. |
| A meeting on Monday → a meeting on Tuesday | Je change la date de la réunion. | A different arrangement. |
A larger picture can still be blurry. Agrandir names its size change; améliorer la qualité says the quality gets better. For an exchange, name what each side gives. For a replacement, put the old item before par and the new item after it.
Avant, les consignes sont longues. Après, elles sont courtes et claires. Léa améliore les consignes.
Before, the instructions are long. Afterwards, they are short and clear. Léa improves the instructions.
How do you describe a change in French?
Type only the missing word. Use the present tense for the verb gaps. The cue tells you which action is intended, so focus on the subject, spelling and construction. Watch the extra e in nous changeons and the -iss- in nous agrandissons.
