Convaincre changes its written stem across the paradigm. The singular present ends in -cs, -cs and -c; the plural uses qu before its endings. The past participle convaincu ends in u. In an application context, add the person persuaded and the action: convaincre le lecteur de poursuivre l’échange.

The person is a direct object
Je convaincs Nora de participer names Nora directly, then the action with de plus an infinitive. For a point or fact, convaincre quelqu’un de quelque chose is possible: convaincre Nora de l’intérêt du projet. These frames differ from making a claim about the speaker’s own certainty.
Convaincue when the preceding object is feminine
J’ai convaincu Nora. Je l’ai convaincue de participer.
I convinced Nora. I convinced her to take part.
In the first sentence, Nora follows the participle, so convaincu has no agreement ending. In the second, l’ is the preceding feminine direct object referring to Nora, giving convaincue. Compare Les collègues que j’ai convaincus for an all-male or mixed group. Identify the object’s actual referent before choosing the ending.
- Nous convaincons le groupe.Nous convainquons le groupe.
The present plural stem uses qu.
- Il convainct le lecteur.Il convainc le lecteur.
Third-person singular present has no final t.
- Elle a convainqui le jury.Elle a convaincu le jury.
The participle is convaincu.
Practise the spelling contrast with three full forms: nous convainquons, nous avons convaincu, nous convaincrons. Then add one person and an action. Keeping the complement unchanged lets you focus on the stem without losing the meaning of the sentence.
