In short
Un projet is a project or plan. Une tâche is a piece of work to do, often within that project. Une tache, without the circumflex, is a stain: une tache de café.

Both tâche and tache are feminine. The article cannot distinguish them; the accent and context do. Terminer une tâche means finishing some work. Enlever une tache means removing a stain. Projet is masculine: un projet intéressant.

Our project is to create a podcast about student life. We want to publish three episodes before the holidays. To begin, we make a list of tasks.
Lina prepares the questions. Her task is to choose five simple questions. Malik checks the sound and I contact the guests. We are all working on the same project, but each person has a specific role.
During the meeting, I spill a little coffee. A stain appears on my sheet. Lina gives me a clean sheet, then we get back to work.
After the podcast, I plan to do an internship at a local radio station. But today I must first finish my task: sending the invitations.
