In short
Register feedback asks you to fit the reader and situation. For a friend, Salut, tu peux… ? can work; for an unfamiliar organiser, try Bonjour, pourriez-vous… ? Keep the action and deadline the same as you change the phrasing.

| Part of the message | A friend | An unfamiliar organiser |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Salut Léa, | Bonjour Madame, |
| Request | Tu peux me confirmer la date ? | Pourriez-vous me confirmer la date ? |
| Thanks | Merci pour ton aide ! | Je vous remercie de votre aide. |
| Closing | À bientôt ! | Cordialement, |
To a friend: a quick confirmation
You already use tu with Léa. The request is about the course start date.
To an organiser: the same information
Practise saying the request with vous and a courteous conditional.
Keep a deadline already given in the task
The brief asks for a reply before Friday. Both versions keep that deadline.
A public explanation
A short article addresses readers collectively. It can move straight to the point.
How do you change register in a French message?
Vous devez me répondre immédiatement.
You must reply to me immediately.
Devez adds obligation and immédiatement adds urgency. A register edit from tu peux to pourriez-vous keeps a request; this version makes a demand.
For the organiser’s email, follow vous through the whole message: votre réponse, votre aide, je vous remercie. In the public explanation, a clear statement fits the genre. A letter greeting and signature belong to the email.
