Which bin? Sort household waste the French way

Yellow bin, glass bank or household waste? Sort fifteen everyday items the way French recycling works, and learn the words on French bins and labels.

In short

Most French towns use la poubelle jaune (packaging and paper), le conteneur à verre (glass bottles and jars), and la poubelle d'ordures ménagères (general waste, often grey or green). Food scraps increasingly go in le bac à compost or biodéchets.
