Manon wants to replace the living-room curtains. There is only one window in this room. Before going to the shop, she takes a tape measure. She notes the width: one metre twenty. Then she notes the height: one metre fifty.
At the shop, she looks for fabric to make two curtains. The assistant shows her linen and cotton. Manon chooses the second material, which is easier to wash. She wants a light colour. The blue fabric is too dark; she prefers the white fabric beside it.
The assistant asks, “Do you know your window’s measurements?” Manon shows her notebook. The chosen fabric is two metres eighty wide. For both curtains, the assistant recommends three metres of fabric in total. Each curtain will therefore have enough fabric for the folds.
Manon checks the price per metre. Then she chooses thread in the same colour. The assistant cuts the fabric with her scissors. At home, Manon starts by rereading the washing advice.
