In short
Keep the objection’s scope, reason and conditions. Then answer the concern you have preserved.

Read the objection in full
I am not opposed to opening the premises on Sundays, but I want it to be trialled before committing to permanent expenditure.
| Detail | French anchor | What it preserves |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Je ne refuse pas l’ouverture | Opening is accepted in principle. |
| Requested step | qu’elle soit expérimentée | The speaker wants a trial. |
| Sequence | avant d’engager des dépenses permanentes | Trial first, lasting expenditure later. |
A fair summary can be shorter than the original. Here, the three details fit into one sentence: Elle accepte le principe de l’ouverture, mais demande un essai avant tout engagement de dépenses permanentes. The contrast concerns the order of actions.
Complete the reformulations
Fill each gap using the French cue. Preserve the position rather than making it stronger. The second part introduces a fresh objection about staffing.
1 · Sunday opening: preserve the scope
(the principle)
(before)
2 · A new objection: preserve the staffing concern
and not)
This caution is understandable. A three-Sunday trial would allow attendance and the working time needed to be measured before deciding on regular opening.
The trial is your proposal. Permettrait presents what it could establish.
