French passive agreement: ten endings to practise

Practise passive participle agreement in ten sentences. Match gender and number to the subject, keep été unchanged and check irregular forms.

In short

In a French passive, the past participle agrees with the subject: le projet est accepté, la proposition est acceptée. The person after par performs the action, while the subject controls the ending. In ont été acceptées, été stays unchanged.

Check two things. The conjugated verb follows the subject’s person and number: est or sont, a or ont. The final participle follows its gender and number. In La proposition des habitants est acceptée, the head noun is proposition. The plural habitants belongs to a phrase describing it.
