Partir means “to leave” or “to depart”: je pars, tu pars, il part, but nous partons. Before -s, the present singular drops the stem’s t. Its passé composé uses être: je suis parti(e).

Keep two present stems in view: par- for je and tu, part- for the other forms. The t is written in il part and all plural forms. The future and conditional keep the whole infinitive: partirai, partirais. The command to one friend is pars.

In the past table, (e) adds the feminine ending; the plural alternatives distinguish a group containing a man from an all-female group. Vous can address one person politely or several people, so choose the matching ending. With on, use est and agreement that matches the people meant: on est partis for a mixed group, on est parties for an all-female group.
