C’est pourquoi in French: give the reason, then the result

Use c’est pourquoi for “that is why”. Compare it with parce que and c’est pour cela que, then complete a short announcement and check the meaning.

In short

C’est pourquoi means “that is why”. Put the reason first, then the result: Nora travaille ce soir. C’est pourquoi elle ne vient pas. Follow pourquoi directly with the result clause; the expression takes no extra que.

A full stop also works between these clauses. After a full stop, begin C’est with a capital letter.
