Dialogue

DELF B1 dialogue: agree on rehearsal times with a flatmate

Practise a French flatshare conversation about rehearsals and evening meetings. Hide your lines, answer a timetable change and agree on a plan for this week.

In short

Start with Camille’s need for quiet, state your rehearsal need and compare actual times. Agree on one week, then decide how to tell each other about changes: On se prévient dès qu’un horaire change.

You are preparing a performance and need to rehearse your text aloud. Camille works remotely and sometimes has evening meetings. You can move some rehearsals. Discuss this week’s times.

Your lines are hidden in practice mode. Say them aloud, then reveal to compare.
  1. Camille

Hier, j’entendais ton texte pendant ma réunion. On peut trouver un autre horaire ?

    English

Yesterday I could hear your lines during my meeting. Can we find another time?

  2. You

Acknowledge the need for quiet, explain yours and suggest comparing schedules.

    English

Yes, I understand you need quiet. I need to rehearse aloud. Let’s compare this week’s schedules.

  3. Camille

    Lundi, j’ai une réunion de 18 h à 19 h. Mardi, je termine à 17 h.

    English

On Monday I have a meeting from 6 to 7. On Tuesday I finish at 5.

  4. You

Offer Tuesday, then explain the limit on Thursday.

    English

I can rehearse on Tuesday from 6 to 7. However, my Thursday rehearsal at 6 is difficult to move.

  5. Camille

    English

On Thursday I’m at the office. But my Tuesday meeting might still change.

  6. You

D’accord.

Keep Tuesday provisional and suggest notifying each other of changes.

    English

OK. Shall we keep Tuesday for now and tell each other as soon as a time changes?

  7. Camille

Oui.

    English

Yes. And what if I have to stay in a meeting after 6?

  8. You

Offer a later Tuesday time and give your finishing limit.

    English

Tell me as soon as you know. I can move Tuesday to 7, but I need to finish before 8.

  9. Camille

Ça me va.

    English

That suits me. Can you also close the door during rehearsal?

  10. You

Accept the request and say how to flag a remaining problem.

    English

Yes, of course. If you can still hear me during a meeting, send me a message and we’ll discuss it again.

  11. Camille

    English

So, this week: Tuesday at 6, or at 7 if I let you know, and Thursday at 6.

  12. You

Confirm the recap and suggest a Sunday check for next week.

    English

Exactly. Shall we check again on Sunday for the following week?

Switch on practice mode and say your lines from the English cues. For a second round, Camille adds a Thursday meeting at 18 h. You can move Tuesday, but Thursday is fixed. Ask about the length of the meeting and propose a next step together.
