Désormais or dorénavant: practise “from now on” in French

Follow a team’s new routine with désormais and dorénavant. Compare a changed situation with future habits, then complete six gaps with feedback.

In short

Désormais and dorénavant both mean “from now on”. Désormais also fits “now” when a new situation is already in place; dorénavant often introduces future conduct. They overlap: Désormais, je vérifierai les dates and Dorénavant, je vérifierai les dates both work.

Complete the team’s message. In the three adverb gaps, either désormais or dorénavant is accepted: both fit these new arrangements. In the verb gaps, use the simple future. Keep the accents in both adverbs, especially the two acute accents in dorénavant.

(from now on), j’y (noter · je · future) les changements.

Read it in English

Yesterday, our team sent an invitation with the wrong time. Lina corrected the message and Paul told the guests. This morning, we decided to change how we work.

From now on, two of us will reread each invitation before sending it. One person will check the date; the other will check the time. We will keep the same version of the message.

Paul suggested making a shared list. From now on, I will record changes there. Lina will be able to check this list before replying to guests.

From now on, we will be able to find the information in the same place. For the next invitation, Lina will prepare the text and I will check the details.
