A1 French story: Inès draws in the park

Read a gentle A1 French story with translation and glosses. Discover what Inès draws, what she writes and where she keeps her pencil.

In short

Dessiner means to draw; écrire means to write. Inès does both in her sketchbook: she draws a tree and a bench, then writes a two-word title underneath.

Read it in English

Inès likes drawing in the park. This morning, she takes a small sketchbook and a pencil. She sits on a bench near a large tree. Her friend Malo stays standing beside the bench.

In her sketchbook, Inès draws the tree and the bench. She does not draw Malo. Below the drawing, she writes two words: “My park”. Malo looks at the page and smiles. “You draw well!”

After the drawing, they take a short walk. Inès closes her sketchbook and puts it in her bag. The pencil stays in her hand. Near the exit, she sees a yellow flower. She stops, opens her sketchbook again and starts another drawing.
