French terrace vocabulary: read and explore Salomé’s plants

Explore a small terrace in French, then read an A1 scene about three plant pots. Practise colours, positions and the words arroser and arrosoir.

In short

Arroser means to water; un arrosoir is a watering can. Follow Salomé’s three pots: the yellow one moves under the table, the blue one is by the door, and the white one stays against the wall.

Les trois pots de Salomé

Salomé has three plants on her small terrace. The blue pot is near the door. The yellow pot is on the table. The white pot is against the wall. It is a gift from her sister.

This morning, Salomé moves the yellow pot. She puts it in the shade, under the table. Then she takes her watering can and waters the plant in the blue pot. She does not water the other two plants.

Her neighbour looks at the terrace. “The white pot is lovely!” he says. Salomé smiles. She leaves that pot against the wall and puts her watering can beside the table.
