In short
The bonnet is le capot, a door is une portière and a wing is une aile. To locate damage, add a side or position: le phare avant droit or la portière arrière gauche. The deck covers twenty exterior parts plus four extra details; left and right follow the seated driver’s view.

Find:
le pare-brise / la lunette arrièrewindscreen / rear window
Focus: front glass versus rear glass
Le pare-brise est devant ; la lunette arrière est derrière.
The windscreen is at the front; the rear window is at the back.
la roue / le pneuwheel / tyre
Focus: whole wheel versus rubber tyre
La jante et le pneu font partie de la roue.
The rim and tyre are parts of the wheel.
Lights, wheels and small exterior details
Find:
La portière arrière gauche est rayée, mais la vitre est intacte.
The rear left door is scratched, but the window is intact.
Rayée agrees with feminine portière. The scratch and the glass are described separately.
C’est le phare avant droit qui est cassé, pas le feu arrière.
It’s the front right headlight that’s broken, not the rear light.
