1 · Explain the alteration
Use faire + infinitive when someone else does the work for you.

2 · Agree on the finished length
De trois centimètres tells the tailor how much to remove; jusqu’ici points to the final position.

An ourlet is a hem. A retouche is an alteration.

4 · Arrange a fitting and collection
Un essayage is a fitting; récupérer means to collect here.
