Gap-fill

A problem-and-solution paragraph in French: guided gap-fill

Build a French paragraph from a concrete problem to a useful solution. Complete eight gaps, track the cause and effect, and check the condition for success.

In short

Connect four things: the difficulty, its consequence, the proposed action and the expected effect. In French, Pour y remédier… introduces the action; the conditional, as in cela faciliterait…, presents the improvement you expect.

The lending desk: name what is being tracked

At the association, the difficulty is tracking loans. Volunteers need to know who has each item and when it is due back. A shared register addresses that information gap. Complete the paragraph with the form named in each hint, keeping the proposed effect in the conditional.

Read it in English

In our association, volunteers do not always know who borrowed the equipment or when it should be returned. This uncertainty makes preparing activities harder.

To address this, a shared register could record the borrower’s name, the item borrowed and the expected return date. Updated at each loan, it would give volunteers the information needed to organise the following activities.

However, this system would only be useful if loans were recorded regularly. A designated contact person could help volunteers get into this habit.
