Build a French revision portfolio with a useful before-and-after entry

Keep the source, draft, revision and reason together in a French writing portfolio. Follow a worked entry, then test the same repair on a fresh passage.

In short

Keep four things together: the source or task, the original passage, the revision and a short explanation of its effect. Finish the entry with a question to use on a fresh text. A useful portfolio shows the decision that improved the writing.

Trial notes: Ten readers compared the two layouts. Six said they preferred the new one. The other four expressed no preference.

Tous les lecteurs préfèrent la nouvelle présentation. All readers prefer the new layout.

Focus: The draft widens six reported preferences into a universal statement.

During this trial, six of the ten readers said they preferred the new layout.

Focus: The revision restores the group, count, trial context and reported preference.

Revision note: I replaced the generalisation with the trial result. I kept the number of readers and specified that this was a stated preference.

Keep the original beside the revision so you can recover the problem quickly. “Improved vocabulary” hides the useful decision here; “restored the group and reported preference” names it. For a different entry, the main repair might be a clearer pronoun reference, a missing explanation or an agreement error. Choose the category that describes the actual edit.

Test the repair on a new topic

New notes: Five participants commented on the proposed times. Three request a later start. The other two want to keep the current time.

Write one sentence reporting the new notes before opening the answers. Apply the portfolio question: who gave a view, and what did they say? This changes the topic from layout preferences to scheduling requests while keeping the same writing challenge. Record whether you caught the scope problem before feedback; that is a concrete observation to compare with your next attempt.

The notes give three requests among five comments. They give neither unanimous support nor an agreed schedule change.

Question 2No account needed
Which revision note will be most useful later?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

The first note explains the meaning repaired: the group is bounded and a request stays a request.

Question 3No account needed
What belongs beside the draft pair?

Choose one answer.

Answer and explanation

The relevant notes and the purpose of the text.. The source notes and task let you check why the edit was justified and when the same decision could help again.
