Pour peu que · une petite condition suffit
1 · A little is enough
Think “it only takes…”: a small amount of attention, help or time sets the result in motion. The result can be welcome or unwelcome.

Pour peu qu’on ait un peu de temps, on peut relire le dossier. With just a little time, we can reread the file.
2 · Put the condition in the subjunctive
The expression selects the subjunctive even when the condition seems easy to meet. Forms such as ait, soit and fasse make the mood visible.
| avoir → qu’on ait | to have |
| être → qu’elle soit | to be |
| faire → qu’il fasse | to do / make |
Pour peu qu’elle soit disponible, elle nous aidera. If she has a little time free, she’ll help us.
3 · Choose the result tense separately
A present result can describe a habit; a future result can describe what will follow. The main verb stays outside the subjunctive clause.
Pour peu qu’on insiste, il accepte.A little persistence is enough to make him agree.
Pour peu que tu fasses attention, tu trouveras la différence. If you just pay attention, you’ll find the difference.
4 · Keep the small-condition meaning
Pour peu que highlights how little is needed. À condition que states a requirement. Si tant est que questions whether a condition holds at all.
Je participerai à condition que tu sois là.I’ll take part on condition that you’re there.
Ce projet réussira, si tant est qu’il soit réalisable. This project will succeed, if it is feasible at all.
5 · Use a full clause after que
There is a subject and a conjugated verb after que. Before on, write qu’on. The separate phrase pour peu d’argent means “for little money”.
Pour peu qu’on relise les chiffres, l’erreur devient évidente. If we just reread the figures, the error becomes obvious.
