Read a French boarding pass: porte, embarquement and zone

A boarding pass in French: flight, gate, boarding time, seat, zone and baggage. Know where to go and when, and what the airport announcements mean.

In short

On a French carte d'embarquement: Vol (flight), Porte (gate), Embarquement (boarding time, earlier than departure), Siège (seat), Zone or Groupe (boarding group) and Bagage cabine. The gate closes (fermeture de la porte) about 20 minutes before departure.

Airport announcements you'll hear: Embarquement immédiat porte B32 (now boarding at gate B32), Dernier appel (last call), Le vol est retardé (delayed) and annulé (cancelled). A window seat on a plane is côté hublot, not fenêtre.
